Enoxaparin Sodium Injection IP 40mg/0.4ml is an anticoagulant (blood thinner) used to prevent and treat blood clots in the body. It contains Enoxaparin Sodium, a low molecular weight heparin (LMWH) that helps prevent the formation of harmful clots in veins, arteries, and lungs.
It is commonly prescribed to prevent deep vein thrombosis (DVT), pulmonary embolism (PE), and other clot-related complications, especially after surgeries, long hospital stays, or in patients with restricted mobility. It is also used in the management of angina (chest pain) and heart attacks.
Prevention of Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT)
Treatment of Pulmonary Embolism (PE)
Management of Unstable Angina and Heart Attack (Myocardial Infarction)
Prevention of blood clots during or after surgery
Enoxaparin prevents the formation of blood clots in deep veins, usually in the legs, especially in patients recovering from surgery or those confined to bed for long periods. Preventing DVT also reduces the risk of pulmonary embolism.
By stopping the formation of new clots and preventing existing ones from growing, Enoxaparin improves blood flow to vital organs and reduces the risk of life-threatening events such as stroke or heart attack.
This medicine is administered as a subcutaneous injection (under the skin) or sometimes intravenously, depending on your doctor’s instructions. It should be given by a doctor or trained healthcare professional.
Do not self-administer unless specifically taught by your doctor. The dose and duration depend on your condition and medical response.
Enoxaparin is an anticoagulant that works by preventing the formation of fibrin, a natural substance responsible for clot formation. It inhibits clotting factors (Factor Xa and IIa), thus stopping new clots from forming and preventing existing ones from getting bigger, ensuring smooth blood flow.
